The Arts Society 'Young Arts'
The primary aim of 'Young Arts' is to promote opportunities for young people to learn enjoy and participate in artistic activities. The belief that the arts have the potential to enrich lives is at the heart of everything that we do. There is no set format for projects they can vary according to local circumstances. 'Young Arts' activities may include music drama and dance as well as the visual arts.
Before the lecture in November 2022 Sian Reddick from Ansford Academy visited the Society to update us on the progress of the mosaics in the style of Hundertwasser and showedus slides of the mosaics and wall painting that had been done as part of the project to brighten up a very dull quadrangle.
We had hoped to fund a sculpture made entirely of re-cycled pieces especially tin lids, but this has been postponed for the moment.
We received £250.00 from the Common Fund, and this has been used to enable Stoke St.Michael and Croscombe Primary Schools (under the guidance pf the same Art Teacher) to buy the necessary printing equipment for a series of William Morris symmetrical designs thechildren have done in their sketch books. Mrs. Foord the Art Teacher has agreed to take photographs of the various stages and send them to us.
In October at the Annual YAR conference, the attendees were given ‘goodie’ bags which contained a variety of paints, brushes, materials, sketch book etc. some of which have been used in schools as prizes or for raffles for school funds.
